Mentoring and Induction Kit
This kit addresses the turnover issue, especially given requirements to replace staff in turnaround schools, and transformation school staffing needs. The following courses are included:
-
Charlotte Danielson’s A Framework for Teaching
Presented by Charlotte Danielson
In this course, you will experience A Framework for Teaching, not only through Danielson’s words, but through the discussions, observations, and interviews of educators who have incorporated the concepts into their daily practice. The course also includes real classroom footage and opportunities for self-reflection and active learning with a teacher panel, helping you become the best teacher you can be. Learn more.
-
Managing a Successful Classroom
Presented by Debbie Silver
In this course, educators will learn to head off discipline problems before they occur using student-centered discipline techniques. With strategies in place for managing the classroom, they will learn to design high-quality curriculum, integrating standards, using backwards design principles, and developing activities suited to different learning styles. Finally, educators will learn how to evaluate and prioritize their own activities, delegate, and make time to reach their personal and professional goals.
-
Coaching for Peak Performance
Presented by Karla Reiss
Incorporating coaching and mentoring techniques into your practice is a proven way to ensure positive change in students, peers, and your schools. This course is designed to help educators improve both verbal and non-verbal communication skills, and build rapport between and among students, teachers, parents, and administrators—all to effect academic achievement across the curriculum. Learn how to provide emotional and instructional support to both populations while developing self-reflection, questioning, and observation skills.
-
Improving Instruction Through Strategic Conversations with Teachers
Presented by Robyn Jackson
In this course, leaders learn to replace ineffective supervisory models with a new model of strategic conversations designed to quickly assess and understand the primary needs of staff. Dr. Jackson defines and models four conversational types with four types of teachers to demonstrate how teachers can learn to recognize the impact of their teaching behaviors on student achievement. Learn more.
An added bonus for teachers - the ability to receive graduate credit from Adams State College (additional university fees apply) for each course. Districts can also approve courses for recertification.
