  • Becoming an Educational Leader in the 21st Century

By Clifton Taulbert, Michelle Pedigo, Todd Whitaker, and Eileen Griffin

In this workshop participants will be exposed to the Power of Community, building integrity, closing the achievement gap, and the Eight Habits of the Heart as a driving force within your schools to ensure student success. Participants will learn how to mobilize their community building skills as well as learn the importance of doing so. Each participant will learn what to expect within their school environment from growing the habits within their lives. Additionally, the educational leaders will be exposed to strategies to ensure effective follow-ship from their team and will be introduced to the concept of R.A.IRespect, Affirmation and Inclusion as the three elements to welcome Diversity and to benefit from its presence. This workshop is designed to give the educator a view of each student as the future caretaker of his or her community and as such, a definitive approach to intentional unselfishness as their contribution to creating excellence within schools. Educators will be prepared for the changes in school accountability; increased funding opportunities for assessment, before and after-school programs, and parental involvement; accountability measures; the development of school-based content and instructional leaders; state proficiency levels which must be reached as well as, beginning in 2005, assessed yearly (3rd-8th grades; one year, 10th-12th grades); creative examples of developmental responsiveness, curriculum mapping, and content integration of math skills across the curriculum.
